NEWLY ELECTED OFFICE BEARERS OF SALUTA CALLS ON VICE CHANCELLOR
The newly elected office bearers of Shah Abdul Latif University Teachers’ Association (SALUTA) led by Prof. Dr. Minhoon Khan Laghari, President and Prof. Dr. Ikhtiar Ali Ghumro, General Secretary called on Vice Chancellor Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto.
Talking to the office bearers of SALUTA, Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto said “I am fully confident that with your support, we will resolve the genuine problems of the University in general and teachers in particular and we will do best in the interest of this prestigious institution.” He said that team of SALUTA is diversified and energetic. Your input and feedback is required for the betterment of the University.
Dr. Ibupoto added that “I firmly believe in collective wisdom, the decision taking on the basis of collective participation and deliberation will be benefited, inclusive and durable.”
The Vice Chancellor informed the SALUTA office bearers that it is my utmost priority to disburse the salaries and pensions timely to the staff. It is my top most priority to defend the institution at all forums regarding its budget, development, infrastructure and allied facilities are concerned.
On this occasion, Prof. Dr. Minhoon Khan Laghari, President and Prof. Dr. Ikhtiar Ali Ghumro, General Secretary SALUTA assured the Vice Chancellor that they will work for the betterment of the institution at large and take this institution at its heights and development and the genuine problems of the teaching fraternity will be placed before Vice Chancellor on the basis of priority and in view of the prevailing financial crunch. They also assured the Vice Chancellor that they cooperate with the Vice Chancellor in bringing the transparency and judicious decisions in the larger interest of the all stakeholders of University.
WORLD FOOD DAY OBSERVED AT SALU
In a bid to observe the “World Food Day” on October 16, 2020, a seminar was organized by Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur in collaboration with Bhittai Social Watch & Advocacy (BSWA) at Peace Corner SALU. Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto, Vice Chancellor presided over the seminar while Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ibrahim Keerio, Principal, Agriculture Engineering & Technology College, Khairpur was the chief guest.
Speaking on this occasion, Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto lauded the contribution of BSWA for organizing a number of positive activities on campus to engage the students in peace related activities i.e. dialogue, training, workshops, seminar and research papers. I firmly believe in mutual trust and respect for everyone. Dr. Ibupoto added I am determined to deliver my responsibilities to uplift the image of University. He said peace is a major part of society and it is also related with the food, in the absence of food there is no peace in human life.
The Vice Chancellor said that the main objective of the day is to spread awareness and sensitization about the prevailing problems of food the world is confronting presently. Growing population is also serious challenge which has created scarcity of food; as a result, the sizeable population is under starvation and hunger.
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ibrahim Keerio said that I am extremely thankful to Dr. Khalil Ibupoto who invited me to share my views on the theme of the day “Grow, Nourish, Sustain together: Our actions are our future”. Dr. Keerio said food contains different ingredients i.e. vitamins, minerals etc as need for human survival. He quoted that the millions of the people more than 31% population of Africa is facing severe starvation and hunger, as a result there is high mortality rate in children. He said that other factors are also very essential for food stock which includes air, abundant water resources, forests and rain. The food productivity could be increased with the help of modern technology and tools for example drip water system and crop pattern.
Mr. Khadim Hussain Mirani, Executive Director BSWA shed light on the objectives of BSWA and briefed the salient features of the working of BSWA on multilateral projects by empowering youth in the promotion of peace, dialogue and harmony.
Prof. Dr. Taj Muhammad Lashari, Director Media & Public Relations, accorded vote of thanks to guests and participants.
Mr. Muhammad Hassan Shaikh, Focal Person of the Project conducted proceedings of the seminar.
At the end, the guests were decorated with the traditional Sindhi Ajraks. The certificates were also distributed among the Peace Ambassadors i.e. students.
Mr. Mureed Hussain Ibupoto, Registrar Ms. Fozia Haneef, Mr. Imran Ali Soomro and others attended the seminar.
PROF. DR. KHALIL IBUPOTO, VICE CHANCELLOR PRESIDED OVER THE MEETINGS WITH DIRECTORS OF RESEARCH CHAIRS, ORIC, PGS, AND INCHARGE PLANTATION, BEAUTIFICATION SECTION
Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto, Vice Chancellor, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur presided over the meetings with the Directors of Research Chairs, Office of the Research, Innovation & Commercialization (ORIC), Postgraduate Studies (PGS) and Incharge Plantation, & Beautification Section.
The first meeting was held with the Directors of Research Chairs.
Prof. Dr. Asad Raza Abidi, Director, Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Chair briefed about the newly established Chair yet not functional due to non-release of remaining amount pending at Government of Sindh regarding purchase of books, furniture & fixture.
The Vice Chancellor directed Dr. Asad Abidi to contact with Planning & Development, Universities & Boards Departments, Government of Sindh for releasing of remaining amount for the chair.
Dr. Khadim Mahar, Incharge Director, Sachal Chair, briefed the progress of Chair since its establishment. He apprised that 34 books and 10 research journals have been published.
The Vice Chancellor directed Dr. Mahar Khadim that a research proposal for signing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Khuwaja Fareed University be prepared within a weeks time to collaborate in the field of Sufism, conferences, workshop etc on the life of Hazrat Khuwaja Fareed and Hazrat Sachal Sarmasat (R.A) to highlight their teachings and philosophy.
Dr. Muhammad Saleem Rahpoto, Director, Tanveer Abbasi Chair, briefed about the chair and informed that a proposal is ready for submission regarding the chair. He has received 200 books from the family of Dr. Tanveer Abbasi.
The Vice Chancellor directed Dr. Muhammad Saleem Rahpoto to submit a revised fresh proposal at earliest with some modifications to streamline the work of the chair.
Mr. Muhammad Hassan Shaikh, Incahrge, Director, Rozey Dhani Chair, briefed the progress of the Chair since its establishment. He apprised that 07 Books and 03 research journals have been published and also six national level programs have been organized by the Chair. Recently one research journal is completed and ready for publishing.
During the meeting, it was unanimously decided that Fund raising committee and Board of Chairs / Directors will be constituted for uplifting and smooth working of the chairs at the Campus from chair lovers by operating joint account and collect funds from the devotees & other sources for running recurring expenditure for chairs.
It was also decided that new PC-I for the buildings be prepared for three chairs. Director Planning & Development and Project Director (Works) will submit PC-I for the establishment of Buildings along with complete requirements.
Meanwhile a meeting was held with the Director ORIC and Director PGS.
Prof. Dr. Abdul Hussain Shar, Director ORIC briefed the Vice Chancellor about the issues pertaining to Directorate of ORIC. He briefed that there is non-availability of building and human resource and managers teams in order to streamline the functioning of ORIC.
Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto remarked that building component is ready; there is main requirement of managers for several assignments in the ORIC. Vice Chancellor advised him to submit a comprehensive plan to make ORIC effective. As far as human resource and managers shortage is concerned, they will be posted at earliest. Dr. Ibupoto stressed the need to make close liaison with industry and academia for the benefit of economy and also directed for signing the Memorandum of Understanding (MOUs) with local Chamber of Commerce and Industries.
Prof. Dr. Tajnees Pirzada, Director, Postgraduate Studies briefed the Vice Chancellor about the issues pertaining to Directorate. She said that there is shortage of staff in the Directorate. She also briefed about the statuary position of the Directorate.
Dr. Khalil Ibupoto directed the Director PGS to take measures to recover the fees from the scholars. Final no dues be issued after the payment of fees. The reports of M.S/M. Phil and Ph.D from the external examiners may be sought through their official emails in future.
Meanwhile, the third meeting was convened with Mr. Rashid Amur, Incharge Plantation & Beautification Section and Mr. Aijaz Ali Sial, Assistant Plantation Officer.
Mr. Rashid Amur briefed the progress of the Plantation Section. Vice Chancellor Dr. Khalil Ibupoto directed to establish the Beautification Cell under the convener ship of Mr. Rashid Amur, Incharge Plantation & Beautification, Mr. Shakeel Khaskheli, Botanical Artist, Mr. Arslan Ahmed Laik, I.T Assistant, Mr. Tahir Abbas Khaskheli, A.O Building and Mr. Aijaz Sial, Assistant Plantation Officer. The purpose of this cell is to beautify the campus and to provide greenery and friendly environment.
Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto narrated that the purpose of these consultative meetings with all sections, directorates and departments is to improve and bring their proactive role in all sections of the University and to work according to their domain and structure with diligently, devotion and in letter and spirit.

The Office Bearers of Press Club, Khairpur led by Patron In Chief Mr. Khan Muhammad and President Mr. Ghulam Qadir Soomro called on the Vice Chancellor, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto at Vice Chancellor Secretariat.
Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto cordially welcomed the guests. Talking to the media persons, Dr. Ibupoto said with your cooperation, consultation and feedback, we will reach the heights of success. I firmly believe in merit and team work. It is the responsibility of the media persons to highlight the developmental news items of the Institution and also indicate any negative aspect also because it is an imperative for balance reporting. He said I have no ambitions for prestige but to render my services with honesty and dedication. He said that this Alma mater is your, your kind cooperation is needed for its uplifting and over coming from financial crisis and I have maintained close liaison with the Govt. of Sindh and Higher Education Commission, Islamabad for availing a compact bailout package.
Dr. Ibupoto remarked that his utmost priority is to disburse the salaries and pensions to the staff timely.
The Vice Chancellor added that I have controlled the loopholes and I also believe in zero tolerance against corruption and malpractice and also believe in justice and fair play.
Mr. Khan Muhammad, Patron In Chief of Press Club Khairpur said, Shah Abdul Latif University is our Institution, without any benefit we are committed to serve this Institution honorary because the ideas of the Dr. Khalil Ibupoto are valued for this Institution based on his commitment and sincerity. He said, I have contributed a lot for the establishment of this Institution. He assured the Vice Chancellor that media fraternity will cooperate with the University for its Betterment.
Mr. Ghulam Qadir Soomro, President, Press Club, Khairpur appreciated the ideas of Dr. Khalil Ibupoto for over coming the financial crisis. He assured his that future cooperation will remain intact and invited the Vice Chancellor to pay a visit of the Press Club, Khairpur.
