DR. KHALIL AHMED IBUPOTO VISITS FACULTY OF SOCIAL SCIENCES AND FACULTY OF EDUCATION

Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto, Vice Chancellor, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur paid an extensive visit of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Faculty of Education. Dr. Ibupoto visited the Nine Departments of Faculty of Social Sciences while Two Departments of Faculty of Education. Dr. Khalil Ibupoto interacted with Heads of Departments and their Faculty Members. A comprehensive briefing of the both Faculties, Heads of Departments was held at the Faculty of Education.

Prof. Dr. Imdad Hussain Sahito, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences and Faculty of Education cordially welcomed the Vice Chancellor. He said this is the milestone step taken by the Vice Chancellor to interact extensively with academic heads. Dr. Sahito briefed the Vice Chancellor about the academic, research and physical development of the both Faculties and assured the Vice Chancellor that our Faculty Members and Academic Heads will extend their full cooperation to maintain the academic development and research culture.

Prof. Dr. Taj Muhammad Lashari, Chairman, Department of Media & Communication Studies briefed the Vice Chancellor about the establishment and background of the Department, on going project and future plan of the Department.

Prof. Dr. Fayaz Raza Chandio, Chairman, Department of Economics briefed that at present 400 students are enrolled, we have started M.S/M. Phil and Ph.D Programs and 28 Ph.D Scholars are engaged in their Ph.D research work. We are concentrating on the business analytical studies and local economic issues of the area.

Prof. Dr. Amir Ali Chandio, Chairman Department of Political Science apprised the Vice Chancellor that there is acute dearth of the Ph.D Faculty Members in order to embark the M.S/M. Phil and PhD Programs in the Department.

Prof. Liaquat Ali Chandio, Incharge, Institute of I.R briefed the Vice Chancellor about the activities of the Institute. He maintained that there is shortage of teachers. The new recruitment of the Ph.D Faculty Members may be made.

Dr. Santosh Kumar, Incharge, Department of Sociology pointed out that there is shortage of classrooms and permanent Faculty Members.

Mr. Inayatullah Bhatti, Incharge, Department of Pakistan Studies said that there is need of establishment of CPEC Centre at the Department of Pakistan Studies to collaborate on CPEC.
Ms. Tasleem Alam Abro, Incharge, Institute of Gender Studies mentioned the severe need of the accommodation for classes and permanent Faculty Members and appointment of appropriate person as Director Institute.

Ms. Farzana Khoso, Incharge Department of Teacher Education briefed that currently we have six approved supervisors so the permission is required to restart the M.S/M. Phil Program. She requested the Vice Chancellor that a collaborative visit of ten Universities may kindly be allowed restarted.  

Mr. Zain-ul-Aabideen Arejo, Incharge Institute of Islamic Studies mentioned that we have shortage of accommodation and the halted M.S, M. Phil and Ph.D Program may kindly be allowed.

Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto, Vice Chancellor narrated that I am extremely feel rejoice and pleasure to visit the Departments of both Faculties. It is our collective responsibility to build the soft image of the institution. Dr. Ibupoto said that the shortage of classes will be fulfilled in the shifting of new academic block. He said the halted M.S/M. Phil and Ph.D Programs will be restarted after revisiting and fulfilling the minimum eligibility criteria of HEC and getting the approval from relevant statuary bodies. Dr. Ibupoto directed the Inchrage Department of Pakistan Studies and to prepare a PC-I for the establishment of CPEC Centre at the Department. He also directed the Incharge Department of Teacher Education to start teachers’ training at the Department aimed at for the capacity building of teachers of the area. He assured Chairman, Department of Political Science that Ph.D Faculty will be hired after completion of codal requirements.

DR. KHALIL AHMED IBUPOTO VISITS DEPARTMENT OF ARCHAEOLOGY AND ITS MUSEUM

Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto, Vice Chancellor, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur paid a visit of the Department of Archaeology and Archaeological Museum.

Prof. Dr. Qasid Hussain Mallah, Chairman Department of Archaeology extensively briefed the Vice Chancellor about his Department. He said Department is imparting quality education in terms of theory and practical. It is evidence that a huge collection of Indus Civilization in the shape of material is available in the Museum. Dr. Qasid briefed the Vice Chancellor that we have a rich journal named “Ancient Sindh”, its 15th volume is ready for publishing which will cover the various aspects of research related with heritage and culture of Sindh and world heritage.

Dr. Mallah apprised that there is shortage of classrooms in the Department. He also briefed that Department has conducted research on site of Lakhian Jo Daro at Sukkur from year 2006 with the help of the students and faculty members.

Ms. Tasleem Alam Abro Director Museum briefed the Vice Chancellor about purpose of establishment of Museum and apprised that the material which was available in the Museum relates with the Moen-Jo-Daro, Lakhian-Jo-Daro, Graveyards of Qadan Ja Quba, Stone-age civilization, Amri and Bhando Jo Qubo sites etc.

Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto said that I am very happy to visit this Department and Museum. Both are rich in research work. Dr. Khalil Ibupoto suggested the Director Museum to take initiative to sign Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Department of Geology University of Sindh, Jamshoro, University of Arts, Design & Heritage, Jamshoro and Pakistan Museum of Natural History, Islamabad for collaborative work. Dr. Ibupoto also stressed the need to get the recognition of research journal “Ancient Sindh” because recognition from HEC is concerned with certain parameters but one of the important milestone is quality.

Vice Chancellor advised the Director Museum and Chairman Department of Archaeology to prepare a revised PC-I to strengthen the Department and Museum simultaneously. Vice Chancellor also suggested that a Heritage Gallery, Talpur and Kalhora Periods Gallery may be established at the Museum.

Dr. Khalil Ibupoto remarked that the Sindh is rich in culture, traditions, civilization and norms. We have to maintain our past glory so the image of Sindh and Pakistan may be revived in the comity of nations, he added.

EX-VICE CHANCELLOR DR. ABDUL RAHIM MALIK CALLS ON DR. IBUPOTO, VICE CHANCELLOR

Prof. (Retd.) Dr. Abdul Rahim Malik, Ex-Vice Chancellor, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur called on Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto, incumbent Vice Chancellor, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur. Dr. Ibupoto warmly welcomed Dr. Abdul Rahim Malik on his arrival at Vice Chancellor Secretariat.

Dr. Malik shared the vast experience of his teaching, research and administrative work, he rendered at the time of his service at the Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur. He also shared administrative experience with Dr. Ibupoto and also briefed the physical development during his eight year tenure as Vice Chancellor.

During the visit of Dr. Malik Ex-Vice Chancellor shared and exchange views with Dr. Ibupoto and also had a wonderful discussion regarding strengthening the academic, research and development of University. Dr. Khalil said, your suggestions for the betterment of this University are worth valuable, he added.

On this occasion, Mr. Mureed Hussain Ibupoto, Registrar was also present.

Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto, Vice Chancellor, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur paid a visit of office of the Dean Faculty of Physical Sciences and Dean Faculty of Natural Sciences.

Prof. Dr. Mumtaz Hussain Mahar, Dean Faculty of Physical Sciences cordially welcomed the Vice Chancellor. He briefed Dr. Ibupoto about the academic, research output of his Faculty and narrated the background of the establishment of the Department of Computer Science. he said that initially Department was started with four computers, later on in the year 2001, then the Minister of Science & Technology Dr. Ata-ur-Rehman approved the scheme for strengthen the Department.

Dr. Samina Rajpar, Professor, Department of Computer Science briefed that the Department has integrated approach based on theory and practical. We are imparting Computer and I.T education in BS (C.S& I.T), M.S/M. Phil and Ph.D Programs. Recently, we have launched International Journal of Computer Science & Emerging Technologies, E-newsletter, Seven Students Societies and also established Alumni Association.

Dr. Hissamuddin Shaikh, Chairman Department of Mathematics also briefed that Department of Mathematic is imparting B.S, M.S/M. Phil and Ph.D Programs. At this juncture, we have shortage of building.

Dr. Farman Ali Mangi, Chairman, Department of Physics briefed the Vice Chancellor about the programs offered by the Department of Physics. He apprised that recently we have introduced Geophysics keeping in view of the oil fields in the adjoining area of the Khairpur and other districts.

Dr. Noor Hassan Chandio, Incharge Department Geography shed light on the programs offered by the Department. He said, three national conferences have been convened. In addition, the project cost of Rs. 3.3 Million regarding establishment of sub-metrological offices at main campus and its sub-campuses is ready for its operation.

The Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto opined that I am really happy to see the infrastructure and equipments available at the Department of Computer Science and other Departments under the domain of Faculty of Physical Science. Dr. Ibupoto said no one will be ignored if a person is committed and enthusiastic to deliver his assigned work. We have plentiful resources, but there is severe need of ownership. We have to continue to work with spirit and commitment. The shortage of classes will be managed very soon after shifting in the new building academic block. Dr. Ibupoto advised the Chairmen Departments of Mathematics and Physics to prepare a comprehensive PC-I for extension of Departments, and the same will be placed in PSDP and other relevant forum for his approval.

Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto visited the Faculty of Natural Science. Prof. Dr. Ghulam Abbas Shar, Dean Faculty of Natural Sciences welcomed the Vice Chancellor. Dr. Ibupoto interacted with the Directors, Chairpersons and Faculty Members of the Institutes and Departments under the purview of the concerned Faculty.

Prof. Dr. Ghulam Abbas Shar briefed the academic and research development. He said recently, we are working on the re-launching of research journal Sindh Scientific. We are committed to provide better facilities to academia and students.

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Hassan Khaskheli, Chairman Department of Biochemistry briefed the Vice Chancellor about available facilities in the Department. He pointed out about the shortage of Faculty Members and recommended the Vice Chancellor to hire the Ph.D Faculty in order to meet the academic requirement.

The Chairpersons of other Institutes and Departments briefed the Vice Chancellor about their prevailing academic scenario in their respective Institutes and Departments

Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto stressed the need for collective efforts to embark quality research input. Dr. Ibupoto remarked that it is high time to revive our credibility and trust. Dr. Ibupoto informed the participants that we are striving to avail appropriate funds from the relevant quarters and we have submitted a request for a bailout package. With the joint efforts, we have witnessed positive and significant paradigm shift towards betterment within a couple of days.  Dr. Khalil said our Alma mater is the premier institute of Upper Sindh caters quality education to the thousands of students of downtrodden people
