RECEPTION WAS HOSTED IN THE HONOR OF DR. KHALIL IBUPOTO

The office bearers of the Employees Welfare Association (EWA), Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur hosted a reception in honor of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto at the Central Lawn of the office of the EWA.

Mr. Qalandar Bux Bozdar, President, EWA cordially welcomed the Vice Chancellor and extended his felicitation on the part of his association.

Speaking in the reception, Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto extended his cordial thanks to the office bearers of Employees Welfare Association for arranging reception in his honor. Dr. Ibupoto said employees are main stakeholder of this University, I am optimistic that employees will support my mission regarding structural changes and transparency in the institution. He added that I firmly believe in policy of check and balance. He advised that every section may perform in line with dedication and devotion. It is my top priority to disburse the salaries and pensions to all employees timely.

Mr. Muhammad Aslam Ghumro, General Secretary EWA assured the Vice Chancellor that they will extend their full cooperation with Vice Chancellor in order to bring transparency and development in the University. We are optimistic that the genuine problem of the employees will be redressed in the prevailing financial crunch.

PROF. DR. KHALIL AHMED IBUPOTO VISITED THE OFFICE OF THE DEAN FACULTY OF ARTS & LANGUAGES & DEAN FACULTY OF MANAGEMENT SCIENCES

Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto, Vice Chancellor, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur paid a visit of office of the Dean Faculty of Arts & Languages and Dean Faculty of Management Sciences.

Prof. Dr. Ghulam Mustafa Mashori, Dean Faculty of Arts & Languages briefed the Vice Chancellor about the existing infrastructure, allied facilities, research output, enrollment and the problems faced by the teaching departments under his domain. He briefed that B.S, M. A and M. Phil Programs are running under the Faculty, recently, we have produced three Ph.D scholars and 20 M.S/M. Phil scholars. We have provided the PowerPoint Projectors and installed CCTV Cameras in the Institute of English Language & Literature for security and surveillance. He briefed that we are publishing three journals in X & Y Categories i.e. Almas, EFL and Bhittai Research Journals. Dr. Mashori briefed that the proposal for launching the Arabic Program is underway. Dr. Mashori briefed that recently 42 M. Phil Research Scholars and 1 Ph.D Scholar has been produced by the Sindhi Department while 5 PhD thesis are under process. There is a severe need of repair of the Sindhi Department. Dr. Mashori also pointed out that there is shortage of Faculty Members, Building component and funds for Research Journals.

On this occasion, Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto advised the Dean to revise PC-I for the Institute of English Language & Literature, Departments of Sindh and Urdu may be submitted and the same will be processed to the Govt. of Sindh and Federal Government for allocation of proper funds. Dr. Ibupoto narrated that the Chairs working at the Department of Sindhi may also be placed under the umbrella of Sindhi Department. Dr. Ibupoto remarked that I will act on your proposals in order to streamline and strengthen the above Departments to work in tangible position.

Meanwhile, Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto visited the Faculty of Management Science. Prof. Dr. Mumtaz Ali Junejo, Dean Faculty of Management Sciences briefed the achievements, problems and future schemes of his Faculty.

On this occasion, Prof. Dr. Minhoon Khan Laghari, Director Institute of Business Administration briefed the Vice Chancellor about the Institute’s working. He said our graduates are rendering their services significantly in the corporate sector, we have provided conducive academic environment to our students with state-of-art building, equipments, we have more than 6000 books in our seminar library initiated smart classroom project under the generous support of Higher Education Commission. Recently 49 M.S/M. Phil and Ph.D Scholars have been produced, we are also supporting the meritorious students in awarding the scholarships donated by various forums.

On this occasion, Prof. Dr. Khalil Ibupoto appreciated the tangible efforts of Dean Faculty of Management Sciences and Director Institute of Business Administration and Institute of Commerce for rendering marvelous services for academic uplift of the University. Dr. Ibupoto said our institution is sacred, it is need of the coordinative and cumulative efforts in order to maintain the culture of merit and excellence. He said I will provide positive and healthy leadership and we will work together for change, development and transparency, he added.

Dr. Ibupoto also visited the Institutes under the domain of Faculty of Management Sciences and interacted with the academic heads and faculty members.

COVID-19 TEST CONDUCTED AT SALU

A Medical Team of District Health Office (DHO), Khairpur conducted the tests of COVID-19 at Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur in order to diagnose the cases pertaining to COVID-19.

The Medical Team paid a visit of the Vice Chancellor Secretariat and taken samples from Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto, Vice Chancellor. Later on, the team conducted the test of COVID-19 of University staff. Dr. Muhammad Hussain Abro also called on Dr. Ibupoto in his Secretariat and assured the Vice Chancellor that all efforts will be taken as per SOPs to eradicate the menace of COVID-19 and will cooperate the University administration for providing medical cover.

Dr. Ibupoto commended the efforts of Dr. Abro performing his duty against COVID-19 as frontline and proactive District Health Officer, Khairpur.

Meanwhile, on the directives of the Vice Chancellor, fumigation was also carried out within the University premises and residential colony as per SOPs of Govt. of Sindh to eradicate the prevailing pandemic of COVID-19.

CONSULTATIVE MEETING OF DEANS REGARDING STREAMLINING THE PGS HELD AT SALU

A Consultative and Review Meeting of Deans of all Faculties regarding streamlining the Directorate of Postgraduate Studies (PGS) was held at Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur presided over by Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto, Vice Chancellor.

Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto remarked that the Universities are recognized as centre of research and excellence by imparting research and development in the advanced world because Universities have direct interaction with the society for innovation, creation and development at large. He said it is my firm believe that conducive and congenial academic environment could be prevailed with the help of mutual trust and consultation. Dr. Ibupoto said that solid and concrete measures may be taken to improve the performance of every section.

Dr. Ibupoto said that with the supports of Deans the Directorate of Postgraduate Studies may be strengthen to work according to minimum eligibility criteria given by the Higher Education Commission. We have to adopt a pragmatic approach to stride and streamline the Directorate of Postgraduate Studies on modern lines.

During the meeting, it was decided that administrative approval from the statuary bodies may be taken to launch M.S, M. Phil and Ph.D Programs as far as halted programs are concerned the Director Postgraduate will review and revisit accordingly category-wise, stage and as per its current status . In view of their halted status, the pertaining queries of Higher Education Commission will be completed within stipulated time. The special meeting of Board of Studies, Board of Faculties, Academic Council will be convened to improve the short comings in the way of admission process of Postgraduate Studies.

It was decided that the Deans of the all Faculties solely will be responsible for the conduct of M.S, M. Phil and Ph.D tests in their respective Faculties. It was resolved that Director of Postgraduate Studies will coordinate with Higher Education Commission on the matters which pertains to Directorate of Postgraduate Studies on emergent basis.
