A Book Launching Ceremony of “A Hand Book on Economic Diplomacy” written by Mr. Ahmed Ali Sirohey, Ambassador posted at Niger was held at Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur organized by the office of the Dean Faculty of Social Sciences. Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto, Vice Chancellor, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur presided over the ceremony while Engr. Prof. Dr. Syed Madad Ali Shah, Vice Chancellor Benazir Bhutto Shaheed University of Technology & Skills Development (BBSUTSD), Khairpur, Prof. Dr. Samreen Hussain, Vice Chancellor, Begum Nusrat Bhutto Women University, Sukkur and Mr. Ahmed Ali Sirohey Ambassador posted at Niger were the guests of the honor.

Speaking on this occasion, Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto said I am trying with my utmost endeavor to uplift the financial, academic and research status of the University. He said our economic resources are progressing day by day. He said, when I joined this University, the monthly salaries and pensions were not paid to the employees. With the blessing of Almighty Allah and teamwork, we are disbursing salaries and pensions on regular basis without any installments and delay. Dr. Ibupoto said that deficit of Rs. 124 Million has been covered during short span of time. Dr. Ibupoto appreciated the academic work of Mr. Ahmed Ali Sirohey. He said this book is a value-added and beneficial for the students of our University.

Engr. Prof. Dr. Syed Madad Ali Shah said this book will be meaningful for the students of International Relations in the field of International Political Economy. Dr. Madad Ali Shah commended the efforts of Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto for organizing such academic activity at the campus.

Prof. Dr. Samreen Hussain said that this is part of literary event. She extended her congratulations to the author of the book. Dr. Samreen said this is a healthy sign that our diplomats are producing positive image. It is the need of the time to concentrate on economic diplomacy for the political development, peace and progress, she added.

Mr. Ahmed Ali Sirohey said Pakistan can enhance its outreach through economic diplomacy by using trained practitioner of economic diplomacy by influencing the smartly alliances. He said in modern time, the nature and scope of economic diplomacy has changes. The more soft power has the greater acceptably of the goods and services. He said Japan after Second World War emerged as second largest economy in the world as a part of economic diplomacy. He said we must concentrate on health, tourism, education as economic diplomacy. He said the purpose of writing of this book is basically is to project the country image.

Prof. Dr. Taj Muhammad Lashari, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences said that this hand book will equip the students of Department of Economic, Political Sciences, International Relations and other disciplines. He said in future we will foster the academic linkage with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for academic and research collaboration.

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saleem Rahpoto, Chairman Department of Economics said in this book various economic issues have been highlighted by the author.

Dr. Naveed Ahmed Shaikh, Director Postgraduate Studies shed light on the historical background of the economic diplomacy. He said economic diplomacy got significance post World War-II. This diplomacy got importance in regional and international scenario. He said CPEC is the success story of economic diplomacy.

Major General Ghulam Shabir Narejo, General Officer Commanding (GOC), Pano Akil Cantonment visited the Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur. He called on the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto in Vice Chancellor Secretariat. An interactive session was held with the Deans of various Faculties. Later on, Major General Ghulam Shabir Narejo extensively visited Central Library, SALU F.M Radio 96.2, Command & Control Room, Centre for Biodiversity & Conservation (CBC) Archaeology & Anthropology Museum and Date Palm Research Institute (DPRI).

Meanwhile, a one-day seminar on Perception Management and National Integration” was held.

Speaking to the participants of the seminar, Major General Ghulam Shabir Narejo said it is matter of immense pleasure and rejoice to address with the Deans, Directors, Chairpersons, Faculty Members, Officers and Students of University, I am proud that I studied at this prestigious institution for 6 months. He briefed the administrative structure of Pak Army. He talked on 5th Generation Warfare and said that Fifth-generation warfare (5GW) is warfare that is conducted primarily through non-kinetic military action, such as social engineering, misinformation, cyber attacks, along with emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and fully autonomous systems. The 5th Generation War is perception management. After World War-II, in nation state system their emerged different theories in order to achieve the national interest i.e. realism, liberalism, and constructivism. State is seeking national power and national interest. He quoted the example of the emergence of block system after World War-II. He narrated the emergence of uni-polar world after 9/11 and different challenges emerged for Pakistan. Pakistani nation stood firmly against war on terror on the basis of their commitment with the ideology of Pakistan as sense of patriotism. As result, Pakistani nation with the help of Pak Army defeated terrorism. He said that Pak China relations are deep-rooted in history. CPEC is glaring example in this regard.

He said Pakistan Armed Forces are responsible against external aggression to contain the expansionist designs of the enemy. We are contributing for nation building.

He said national integration is the need of the time because our motherland Pakistan emerged on the basis of two nation theory, we must be united under the one flag and one country Pakistan despite diversified nations, cultures, languages, sects etc.

Major General Ghulam Shabir Narejo stressed the need to concentrate on merit culture and advised the students to focus on the pursuit of academic excellence.  

Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto, Vice Chancellor warmly welcomed the chief guest Major General Ghulam Shabir Narejo.  He appreciated the efforts of Major General Ghulam Shabir Narejo for inviting the academic institutions of the region visited the Pano Akil Cantonment. He said Pakistan Army has rendered marvelous services for the defense of the country. During the war period, Pak Army defended the national territory. During the war on terror thousands of the officers and soldiers sacrifices their precious lives and maintained peace and tranquility in the country.

Taking to the delegation of Metrological Department, Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto said we are committed to provide quality education and embarking research on modern lines. Dr. Ibupoto briefed the delegation about the academic, research and development of the University and underlined the need for close collaboration to embark research linkage and coordination with the Department of Geography.

Mr. Muhammad Riaz, Director General, Pakistan Metrological Department, Islamabad remarked that this area is rich in agriculture perspective and has also significance as Monsoonic area and has also metrological importance as Eastern Sindh because this area is also Monsoon belt. He assured that Metrological Station will be established at the Department of Geography, while Sub-Stations will be established at Shahdadkot and Ghotki Campuses,  in this connection a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will be signed to foster future and further linkages with the Department of Geography. He appreciated the tangible efforts of Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto for the image building of the University.

Dr. Noor Hassan Chandio, Incharge Department of Geography briefed the delegation about academic and research activities of the Department. He said our students are getting Internship at the Metrological Office, Karachi. He said the establishment of Metrological Station will provide an ample opportunity to the students for data collection.

The delegation also visited the Department of Geography.

Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto, Vice Chancellor, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur inaugurated the SALU F.M 92.6 Radio Station at Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur.

Speaking on this occasion, Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto said Radio is a strong medium of communication. It has played pivotal role in promotion of education, science, technology, business promotion, agriculture, health awareness and youth engagement.

Dr. Ibupoto remarked that by operational of this Radio Station, it will disseminate the developmental, academic, research, sports and multilateral information to the people of this area. Dr. Ibupoto appreciated the efforts of pioneer of SALU F.M Radio Prof. Dr. Taj Muhammad Lashari, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences and Prof. Dr. Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Abro, Chairman Department of Media & Communication Studies for their untiring efforts for the establishment and operational of SALU F.M 92.6 Radio Station.
