A Certificate Distribution Ceremony under the umbrella of “Media Club”, Department of Media & Communication Studies, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur was jointly organized by the Department of Media & Communication Studies and Global Neighborhood Media Innovation (GNMI), Karachi. Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto, Vice Chancellor, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur gave away the certificates among the participants of the training.

Speaking on this occasion, Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto said I am feeling delight that our students have been trained practically and professionally by the GNMI. Now they could play their practical role in media organizations with vigor and enthusiasm inline with media laws and ethics. Dr. Ibupoto remarked that I am optimistic that such types of trainings will remain continue with the support of GNMI and other media organizations, media houses and NGOs for the capacity building of our students. Dr. Ibupoto commended the efforts of GNMI for providing professional trainings to our students at campus.

Ms. Najia Ashar, Chief Executive Officer GNMI remarked that Department of Media & Communication Studies is a vibrant Department. Students of the Department received the trainings on Stories Writing. Their ideas are amazing. They worked on online mode as well as physical on mobile journalism, social media and digital media. She said the content of their work is highly professional like mainstream media. She also appreciated the contribution of Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto, Vice Chancellor for the promotion of academic and research culture as well as co-curricular activities at the campus. Dr. Ibupoto has great potential to develop this campus on modern lines, she added.

During the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Taj Muhammad Lashari, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences, Prof. Dr. Ikhtiar Ali Ghumro, Director Institute of Commerce, Dr. Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Abro, Chairman, Department of Media & Communication Studies, Mr. Siraj Ahmed Soomro, Mr. Imran Ali Soomro, Secretary to Vice Chancellor, Mr. Ashar Ali, Mr. Sher Afgan, Ms. Sakina Imani, Mr. Furqan Ahmed and Mr. Farhan Noonari and large number of students attended the ceremony.

Prof. Dr. Chandan Lal Rohra apprised the Deputy Commissioner, Khairpur that Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur is the third largest premier Public Sector University of Sindh caters the academic need of quality education for thousand of students. He pointed out that owing to immense financial crunch so we could not start any pace of work. He also mentioned that Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto has desired to convene a meeting with Deputy Commission, Khairpur to meet the some urgent requirements at the Main Campus i.e. provision of Sun Sheds, CC Paver Blocks and for the arrangements of beautification of Campus.

On this occasion, Mr. Ahmed Ali Qureshi assured the Pro-Vice Chancellor that CC Paver Block from Dual Carriage Way to Syed Qaim Ali Shah Sports Complex will be fixed and Sun Shed will also be installed. He said in the capacity of Deputy Commissioner, it is our social responsibility to support the educational institutions and other social welfare institutions falls under my jurisdiction, he added.

During the meeting, Mr. Faiz Muhammad Shaikh, Executive Engineer was also present.

The Concluding Ceremony of All Pakistan Inter-University Table Tennis (Girls) Championship was held at Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur organized by the Sports Section of the University in collaboration with Higher Education Commission, Islamabad. Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto, Vice Chancellor, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur was the chief guest on this occasion.  

Talking to the participants, Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto, said in this mega event of girls, 19 Public and Private Sector Universities participated in this Championship. He said during three consecutive days, the players played the Table Tennis with sense of competition, tolerance and confidence as per philosophy of sports activism. Dr. Ibupoto remarked that we have provided hospitality to the guests teams at our level best. I witnessed that the teams have enjoyed and visited the prominent and cultural sites of our adjoining areas.

Dr. Ibupoto said that the looser teams will strive for their triumph in future. You are our ambassadors and you will bring the soft image and good will gesture message from this institution. Dr. Ibupoto narrated that we have given top priority to sports activities also in order to prepare the healthy mindset with positive attitude in the society. I am optimistic that our students will shine the name of this University in the comity of the nations with their endeavor, ideas and innovation.   

Dr. Ibupoto appreciated the efforts of Higher Education commission, Islamabad for promoting the sports culture at the Universities. Dr. Ibupoto also commended the untiring efforts of Sports Section of University working under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Mumtaz Ali Junejo Chairman Sports Section and Mr. Muhammad Murad Pirzada, Director Physical Education and his team for organizing this mega event in befitting manner.

Earlier, Prof. Dr. Mumtaz Ali Junejo, Chairman Sports Section cordially welcomed the guests and briefed the progress of the Sports Section. He said under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto the sports activism is excelling day by day along with the academic activities at the campus. Dr. Junejo also accorded his cordial thanks to the faculty members, officials of the teams and players, media persons, officers, employees and students for their participation in the event.

In final the University of Punjab, Lahore beat University of Central Punjab, Lahore by 3-1 and won the Championship. The University of Central Punjab Lahore secured second position while Superior University, Lahore secured third position among 19 teams.

An Oath Taking Ceremony of newly elected body of Officers Welfare Association (OWA), Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur was held at Allama I. I. Kazi Hall of the University. Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto, Vice Chancellor, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur presided over the ceremony. While Prof. Dr. Ghulam Abbas Shar, Dean Faculty of Natural Sciences, Prof. Dr. Minhoon Khan Laghari, President Shah Abdul Latif University Teachers’ Association (SALUTA), Mr. Mureed Hussain Ibuoto Registrar,  Mr. Farhan Latif Memon President OWA, Mr. Qalandar Bux Bozdar, President Employees Welfare Association (EWA), Mr. Feroz Ali Phulpoto, General Secretary, OWA and Mr. Ayaz Ali Memon were the guests of honor.

Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto administrated the oath to the newly elected body of the Officer Welfare Association. Mr. Farhan Latif Memon, President, Mr. Bagh Ali Jalbani, Vice President, Mr. Feroz Ali Phulpoto, General Secretary, Mr. Amjad Mughal, Joint Secretary, Syed Safdar Ali Shah, Finance Secretary, Mr. Younis Phulpoto, Information Secretary, Mr. Ali Murad Behan, Office Secretary, Mr. Aijaz Soomro, Ms. Farzana Sindhu Jamali and others had taken the oath.

Talking in the oath taking ceremony, Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto said since joining as Vice Chancellor of this third largest Public Sector University of Sindh Province five month earlier, the University was facing immense financial crunch. With the support of all stakeholders of University, we are striving to overcome the stringent financial crisis. The Vice Chancellor added that despite financial deficit, we are disbursing salaries to staff timely without any unprecedented delay.

Dr. Ibupoto remarked that with the joint efforts of teaching fraternity, officers and employees, we could bring better results and development for this prime institution of Upper Sindh. My utmost priority is to resolve the genuine, legal and legitimate problems of the all stakeholders without discrimination and biases because I firmly believe in merit, transparency and commitment to promote the soft image of the institution and nation building.

Meanwhile, a Draws ceremony of Umrah Tickets, Laptop Loans and House Building Loan was performed by the Vice Chancellor wherein 33 lucky officers availed Umrah Tickets, Laptop Loans and House Building Loans.

The ceremony was followed by the Sufi Musical program. Mr. Salamat Suhrab Faqeer, Mr. Najeeb Ali Shaikh and others performed in Sufi musical colors of legend Sufi poets of the region.
