Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto, Vice Chancellor, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur inaugurated the Basant Festival at Model School of University.

Speaking during the inaugural ceremony, Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto said that Basant event is the event of multicolor, happiness and rejoice. I am very happy to witness the co-curricular activities of the students of Model School.

The Vice Chancellor remarked that co-curricular activities are an integral part of the academic activities which provide a viable platform for sense of competition and confidence among the talented youth. I am striving that this Model School will be elevated as one of the best schools of the country. The PC-I for its up gradation will be prepared and submitted to the concerned quarters.


On this occasion, Madam Ghazala Shaheen Qureshi, Principal Model School cordially welcomed the guests especially the Vice Chancellor for their arrival at the event. She shed light on the curricular and co-curricular activities of the Model School. She said we are committed to provide education to the students at our level best on modern lines.

The students of the school presented the tableaus, folk songs and wore multicolored cultural dresses.  

Meanwhile, the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto, Registrar Mr. Mureed Hussain Ibupoto and others planted the saplings of the indigenous trees.

A One-Day Training Workshop on Model CCI: Debating Democratic Devolution was held at Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur organized by the Department of Political Science in collaboration with Hanns Seidel Foundation, Pakistan. Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto, Vice Chancellor presided over the workshop.

Speaking on this occasion, Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto said that the Council of Common Interests (CCI) is a constitutional forum established under 1973 Constitution. The purpose of this August body is to foster the consensus, unity and to resolve the issues of national interests. He said, it is high time that unity of federation must be promoted and protected. He said I am optimistic that the students of this Department will learn a lot from this fruitful workshop. Our students are enthusiastic to learn and to pursue their education. Today I witnessed that students are eagerly taking their classes after long span of closure of educational institution in the wake of the COVID-`19.

Dr. Ibupoto stressed the students to utilize your energies for the unity of the federation and to take part in the national integration and patriotism and love with the country.

Prof. Dr. Taj Muhammad Lashari, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences shed light on the significance of the Council of Common Interests. He said the prime object of CCI is to harmonize the relations among the federating units. He said CCI will strengthen the democratic approach among the provinces.

Prof. Dr. Amir Ali Chandio, Chairman Department of Political Science welcomed the guests and briefed the objectives of the workshop. He appreciated the untiring efforts of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto for providing a viable platform for the students to equip them with the modern technology, skills, trends, discourse and dialogue.

Renowned Journalist, Anchor Person and Scholar Mr. Jami Chandio was the Master Trainer/Resource Person of the workshop. He remarked that we should follow the good traditions of the developed federal states. He said that the CCI is being restructured and with the help of CCI we will avail the opportunities to minimize the differences among the provinces. He said CCI is consensus, common strong forum. He also shed light on the history of federalism.

Mr. Lal Zaman, Representative of Hanns Seidel Foundation said that Model CCI is not a zero-sum debate of dominance and conflict but a cooperative and coalitional debate. He said this workshop is aimed at to prepare the students for the simulation and give them an introduction to the political and theoretical foundation of Pakistan Federal System. He announced that the participants of this University level debate will be given certificates. The five best students of this level will be sent to the Federal or National level round.

A One-Day Seminar on Kashmir: Right to Self Determination and Regional Peace was held at Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur organized by the Department of Political Science. Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto, Vice Chancellor, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur presided over the seminar while Prof. Dr. Syed Madad Ali Shah, Vice Chancellor, Benazir Bhutto Shaheed University of Technology & Skills Development (BBSUTSD), Khairpur was the chief guest.

Speaking to the participants of the seminar, Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto said, the right of self determination of Kashmiri People is a genuine and legitimate right which India has denied. He said that the same right of self determination may be accorded to Kashmiri People in the spirit of United Nation’s Resolutions. Dr. Khalil Ibupoto remarked that Govt. of Pakistan has pleaded this cause of Kashmiris in international forums assertively and effectively. The policy of Indian aggression is blatant violation of human rights and fundamental freedoms. The plight of the Kashmiri People is miserable.

Dr. Ibupoto appreciated the endeavor of the Chairman Department of Political Science Prof. Dr. Amir Ali Chandio and Dean Faculty of Social Sciences Prof. Dr. Taj Muhammad Lashari for organizing this seminar to apprise the audience about the Kashmir issue.

Dr. Ibupoto also appreciated the student’s speakers content. He said, our students are meritorious and talented, he added.

Prof. Dr. Syed Madad Ali Shah shed light on the geo-strategic position of the Kashmir. He said, Pakistani Governments have always taken the path of dialogue, discourse and resolution of Kashmir amicably but the Indian policies of expansionism and hegemony has created barriers in peaceful settlement of Occupied Kashmir. 

Dr. Madad Ali Shah also applauded the contribution of Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto for the promotion of curricular and co-curricular activities at the campus and streamlined the academic, research and administrative life of the University.

Prof. Dr. Amir Ali Chandio, Chairman Department of Political Science in his speech said it is high time that the Kashmir issue may be resolved. He narrated that regional peace is at stake due to hegemonic and expansionist designs of the Modi Government.

Prof. Dr. Minhoon Khan Laghari, President, Shah Abdul Latif University Teachers’ Association shed light on the Kashmir issue. He said the United Nations Resolutions may be implemented in letter and spirit to resolve the Kashmir problem.

Mr. Mumtaz Bukhari, Senior Journalist shed light on the genesis of the Kashmir issue. He said historically this region has great significance. He said this valley is the valley of heaven and has great tourist potential. He lamented that Kashmiris are ignored by the great powers.

Prof. (Retd.) Dr. Adal Soomro Eminent Poet said that right of self determination is the legal right which has been denied by the Indian Government as result legitimate struggle is continues for availing the right of self determination.

Mr. Feroz Phulpoto, General Secretary, Officers Welfare Association appreciated the efforts of University administration for organizing this day as part of solidarity with Kashmiri People.

Mr. Qalandar Bux Bozdar, President Employees Welfare Association also spoke on this occasion. He said the struggle of Kashmiris is part of democratic movement. he stressed that the Muslim World could play their due role in the resolution of Kashmir issue.

Prof. Dr. Taj Muhammad Lashari, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences extended vote of thanks to the guests and participants. He said, in the advent of 1948, India has adopted policy of genocide against the Kashmiri people. The Kashmiris have been denied from their due right of self determination. He emphasized the need of composite dialogue and the international community may intervene to resolve the Kashmir issue according to United Nations Resolutions.

Meanwhile, a Solidarity Rally was taken out from the Centre for Biodiversity & Conservation which culminated at the Faculty of Natural Sciences led by Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto along with Faculty Members, Officers, Employees and Students.

A large number of Faculty Members Faculty Members, Officers, Employees and Students participated in the seminar and solidarity rally.

A Consultative Meeting of Pro-Vice Chancellors and Deans was held at Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur in order to review the arrangements of re-opening of Main Campus and its Sub-Campuses. Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto, Vice Chancellor chaired the meeting.

At the outset of the meeting, Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto briefed the house in the backdrop of his recent visit at Islamabad. Dr. Ibupoto briefed that I have paid a visit of Pakistan Science Foundation regarding the funding of future research projects of University and also paid a visit of the Headquarter of Pakistan Engineering Council, Islamabad in order to launch Software Engineering Program at the Department of Computer Science and also visited the Higher Education Commission, Islamabad Research & Development Division regarding the proper functioning of Office of the Research, Innovation & Commercialization (ORIC).

Dr. Ibupoto also briefed about the discussions held at NAVTEC in order avail the short term funding projects, PASTIC, Islamabad in order to include the Central Library of SALU, Khairpur in PASTIC Database and also visited Arid Agriculture University, Rawalpindi in order to foster the collaborative and integrated projects between Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur and Arid Agriculture University, Rawalpindi.  

Meanwhile, Dr. Ibupoto briefed about his visit of Pak-Austria University, Haripur, KPK regarding uplifting the Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur in various areas and modern skills.
Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto narrated that the purpose of my official visit aimed at to uplift the University academically, research development and its capacity building and also to avail the research projects on various issues pertaining to community in the fields of Agro-Economy, Applied Sciences, Natural Sciences, Business Management and other allied fields.

The Pro-Vice Chancellors and Deans acknowledged the proactive contribution of Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto in the uplifting the University in right direction. They said that the efforts of the Vice Chancellor are commendable.

After detailed deliberations, various decisions were made. The emergent meeting of the Board of Studies of all the Institutes and Departments may be called urgently before February 4, 2021 regarding the implementation of Associate Degree in Arts, Science and Commerce and their syllabus may be approved according to market based need and also to prepared the outline of Zero Semester.

It was decided that the University and its Sub-Campuses will reopen from Monday February. 8, 2021. Initially the students of BS Part-II and BS Part-IV will attend their classes physically by adhering the strict SOPs inline with governments. While the classes of BS-I and BS-III will commence from Monday February 15, 2021. The results of First and Second Semester-2020 will be submitted to the Controller of Examinations Office on or before Thursday February 4, 2021 including the remaining results of Annual Examinations-2019.

It was decided that all the Ph. D Faculty Members must submit at least one research project. The teachers physical presence is mandatory from Monday February 1, 2021 so the pre-arrangements of timetable, workload and other allied activities may be accomplished prior opening of the University. It was also decided that the workload of regular Faculty Members, TTS and Teaching Assistants must be submitted on Thursday February 4, 2021. It was decided that the interviews of Teaching Assistants will be conducted. It was decided that all the Faculty Members will get their attestation/verification/equivalence of Ph. De degrees as per Higher Education Commission’s guideline on or before March 1, 2021.
