Two Ph. D Open Defense Seminars were held in the Department of Sindhi, Shah Abdul Latif University Khairpur presided over by the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto.
 
Research Scholar Mr. Ibrahim Kharal defended his Ph. D research on the topic "Critical Analysis of Naseem Kharal's Stories under the supervision of Prof. (Retd.) Dr. Adal Soomro. Mr. Ibrahim Kharal said that Naseem Kharal was the prominent writer of Sindhi prose and story. He was a renowned Sindhi story writer, he has portrayed the real Sindhi society and written short stories on the indigenous characters. In his stories he has pinpointed the various negative traditions prevailing at that time i.e Honor Killing and Exploitation based Society. 
 
The second Ph. D Open Defense Seminar was delivered by Mr. Ateequllah Memon under the supervision of Prof Dr. Adal Soomro on the topic " Status of Sindhi Language during the British Rule". He said Sindhi is an ancient language which flourished in the British Rule. The Sindhi Language reached at the highest zenith. The British Rulers collected Sindhi diction, they focused on research, wrote books and published them. There is an impact of English Language on Sindhi. British era also exhibits that the British Rulers patronized Sindhi script, literature, poetry and language. 
 
Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto, Vice Chancellor in his presidential address said that Ph. D research work is the outcome of indepth research work carried out by the Scholars either in Science or Arts because it is a novel work based on the ideas and innovation of scholarly work. Dr. Ibupoto remarked that research work of both scholars will be benefited in the field of Sindhi language and literature. He also appreciated the untiring efforts of Research Supervisor, Dean Faculty of Arts and Languages in the promotion of research culture. 
 
Prof. Dr. Ghulam Mustafa Mashori, Dean Faculty of Arts and Languages said that the both Scholars have delivered public defense inline with the HEC's minimum eligibility criteria. The work of scholars will be value added for the future scholars. 
 
Prof. (Retd.) Dr. Adal Soomro, Dr. Ishaque Samejo, Dr. Anwar Figar Hakro, Dr. Bashir Fayaz Chandio appreciated the research work of the both Scholars. They said research activities are essential and positive activities at the Campus in order to embark the research. They also commended the keen interest of Vice Chancellor in the development of research and innovation at University. Despite hectic engagement, he remained present in the Seminars and presided the Open Defense. 
 
The Open Defense Seminars were declared as successful. Dr. Naveed Ahmed Shaikh, Director Postgraduate Studies conducted the proceedings of the Seminars. 
 
A large number of teachers, research scholars and students attended the Seminars.
