A delegation consisting on 11 Directors of various sections of Agriculture Research and Extension Department, Baluchistan led by its Director General Dr. Jumma Khan Tareen called on Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto, Vice Chancellor, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur at Vice Chancellor Secretariat.

Talking to the delegation, Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto said agriculture research and extension plays a pivotal role in the agriculture development because our country is agrarian based economy. In order to meet the food scarcity in the country, it is our collective responsibility to gear up our efforts to mitigate the food shortage. Dr. Ibupoto apprised the visiting guests that we are committed to embark research on tissue culture at our Date Palm Research Institute (DPRI). We are also striving to initiate research on other elite and indigenous verities related with tissue culture on Banana and Onion.

Dr. Ibupoto assured the delegation that we will sign the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Agriculture Research & Extension Department, Baluchistan regarding research, innovation, students exchange, conferences and students engagement in internship program etc. Dr. Jumma Khan Tareen, Director General, Agriculture Research and Extension Department, Baluchistan appreciated the untiring efforts of Dr. Khalil Ibupoto for the promotion of research and innovation. He exchanged views with Vice Chancellor on tissue culture and offered to sign MoU regarding students exchange, seminars, conferences etc. Wherein, they offered to embark collaborative research on Saffron and Grapes Species and also offered the visit of research scholars and students at Arid Zone Centre established at Umer Kot and Uthal Research Centre at
Baluchistan.

Mr. Muhammad Saleem, Mr. Abdul Ghaffar, Dr. Asmatullah, Mr. Gul Muhammad, Dr. Muhammad Qasim, Mr. Muhammad Sharif, Directors, Agriculture Research and Extension Department, Baluchistan and other Directors of various sections along with Director General were present during the visit.
